This page contains some programs written by M. Feuerbacher. You can use them if you like, if you do so, please comment via email to mick @ feuerbacher. net .

quasical.zip (Win9x, Win2000, comes as zipped .exe-file): Useful tool for work on quasicrystal related topics. The current version 3.0 features

  • Calculation of atomic positions according to a cut-and-projection procedure for icosahedral quasicrystals. Self-defined 6D unit cells in face-centered hyperlattices can be projected into physical space, making the procedure universally available for structure modelling of new alloys. Two data files (*.qhc-files) containing 6D unit cell parameters come with the program.

Inherited features of previous versions

  • Calculation of stereographic projections of the icosahedral and decagonal point group.
  • Inflation and deflation calculator for vectors in Cahn Shechtman Gratias (icosahedral) and Yan (decagonal) indices.
  • Calculation of atomic positions according to a cut-and-projection procedure for icosahedral Al-Pd-Mn (Boudard model) and Zn-Mg-RE (Ohno & Ishimasa model).

No online-help files for the program have been created yet. Therefore, if you approach problems using the program, don't hesitate to contact the author for assistance.

CompCal.zip (Win 3.1, Win9x, Win2000, comes as zipped .exe-file): Calculator for transforming ternary alloy compositions from at% to weigth% and vice versa.

dw.zip(Win 3.1, Win9x, Win2000, comes as zipped .exe-file): This program calculates density wave images of an icosahedral quasicrystal. Defects can be introduced. Not complete, Bugs.

petri.zip (Win9x, Win2000, comes as zipped .exe-file): Simulation of life and evolution. The evoluation of a population of animals possessing 6 motion-controlling genes can be controlled via the feeding procedure and the mutation rules.

ok.zip (Win 3.1, Win9x, Win2000, comes as zipped .exe-file): Nice little program.
